Home Sweet Home

It has been just under a week since we arrived home, and we are sooooo glad to be here. When we finally pulled into our driveway after 20 hours of travel, Cora's eyes got huge, and she squealed with joy. There is no doubt she knew where we were. We spent the next hour laughing as Cora ran around the house greeting all of her toys and shouting "Wheeeeeeeeeeee" as she went. We finished the night with a round of Benadryl for all and slept soundly through the night. We were even in good enough condition to make it to all 3 hours of church.

I had been planning on redecorating Cora's room when we returned, and all of the stars aligned when craigslist had exactly what I had been looking for. What really surprised me was how delighted Cora was with everything. When we picked up the bed my cousin Mollie helped out since she has a hatchback handy for such things. The whole ride home Cora was craning her head to see the bed in the car in front of us. Upon arrival home she danced around as we carried it upstairs, and spent the better part of an hour climbing on and off of it.

We were planning on waiting to introduce sleeping in the bed after we painted the other room and moved her into it. Plans changed on Wednesday when Cora was unhappy about going to bed and gave a demonstration of how easily she could leap out of her crib when she wanted out. So, the toddler bed was immediately pressed into service and all seems to be going well despite the hasty nature of the change. I am sure the cool new sheets and blankets don't hurt either...

She is sounding like such a big kid! I can't believe how old she's getting! Congrats on getting home safe and sounds. I also love sleeping in my own bed after a long trip. But I'm sure it's even more relaxing when you've been as far as you have.

I picked up a "car" toddler bed off the side of the road that someone was throwing away, tory cleaned it and Ayson won't use it. What was your trick? Do you have side bars to keep her from falling out?

And welcome home!
